Alejandra “Alex” Zapatero is an associate attorney in the firm’s Immigration Section.  Her background is in business immigration and she works primarily in assisting clients in obtaining immigrant and non-immigrant visas through employment.  Alex earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of William & Mary in 2006 where she was the recipient of a 4-year academic merit scholarship.  She earned her Juris Doctor degree from The University of Richmond School of Law in 2010.

Before coming to the firm, Alex began her immigration career in Richmond, Virginia where her practice focused mainly on employment-based petitions and applications on behalf of employers and foreign workers seeking temporary and permanent employment in the United States, including immigrant and nonimmigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications filed with USCIS.  While in law school, Alex provided translation and legal services for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Pro Bono Immigration Law Clinics for the city of Richmond.  She performed client intake, drafted reports and legal memoranda, and provided translation services for those seeking pro bono immigration services.  She also served as the President of the Hispanic Student Association, Business Editor of the Richmond Journal of Global Law & Business, and was an active member of the International Law Society.

 

Alex is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and is a member of the Virginia State Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia.  Alex has a native fluency in Spanish.
