Name Change
A divorcing party may want to resume her (or his) former name, or perhaps change the name of his or her child.  Former names may be restored as part of the divorce proceeding, or as an independent action.

 

Adults can typically change their names to any name of their choosing.  A child's name may be changed if both parents are in agreement, or if the court otherwise finds that the name change is in the best interest of the child.
